PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL PILATES

In safe hands

During pregnancy and after childbirth your body is going through a lot of changes. We all know the benefits of safe, tailored exercise during pregnancy and for postnatal recovery but sometimes it can feel a little overwhelming to know what it is you should or should not be doing at this time. You might even be feeling a little disconnected from your body and unsure where to start.

At Be:Poised Pilates you can be assured that our specialist pregnancy and postnatal classes have been specially designed to meet the needs of your changing body during pregnancy and after childbirth. We combine exercises on the mat and using the Pilates Tower; a versatile piece of Pilates apparatus that uses springs and attachments to provide resistance, support and control. Classes are taught by teachers who are trained & qualified to work with clients during pregnancy and in the postnatal period. We keep classes small so that everybody benefits from tailored support and guidance. You do not need any prior Pilates experience to join our classes, we will guide you every step of the way.

Be:Poised Pilates founder Gina has a wealth of in-depth training and experience in working with people during pregnancy and after childbirth. She has received training from incredible leaders in the world of pre & postnatal exercise and she is passionate about helping women feel empowered and confident in their abilities. She is supported by Studio Teacher Lauren, whose gentle manner helps clients feel at ease and supported in the studio. Lauren’s training includes Pre&Postnatal Specialist training on the mat and apparatus, along with continued in depth advanced study into pregnancy and 4th trimester wellness, movement and birth preparation. She also loves a baby cuddle! Together Gina and Lauren are committed to providing classes that are supportive, informative and help you feel confident & connected to your body.

We are here to support and encourage you. To pay attention to your aches and pains, to sympathise when you have had a sleepless night, and even to hold your baby if needed so you can get some much needed time for you and your body during class!

POSTNATAL PILATES

Our Postnatal Pilates classes are a wonderful opportunity to spend some time focussing on YOU and YOUR body, whilst in the supportive company of other Mums on their own postnatal journey.

  • Be guided through the foundations of postnatal restorative movement & exercise, with a focus on Pilates based techniques

  • Work on the mat and with the Pilates Tower; a versatile piece of Pilates apparatus that uses springs and attachments to provide resistance, support and control.

Our Postnatal Pilates Foundations class is for mums who are returning to exercise after having a baby. This class is designed to set the important foundations to rebuild coordination, control and strength after childbirth, with a strong focus on the pelvic floor and abdominals.

Our Postnatal Pilates Progressions class is for those who have spent some time in our Foundations class and are now ready to build on those strong foundations with greater challenges. We follow more closely the Classical Pilates Mat Work and progress the Tower exercises to challenge strength and deepen connections further.

You are welcome to bring your baby along with you to both classes.

PRIVATE SESSIONS - PREGNANCY & POSTNATAL

The Pilates studio can be a great place to workout during pregnancy and in the postnatal period. The resistance from the springs and apparatus, such as the Reformer and Wunda Chair, can help support and challenge your body. We have specially created wedges in the studio to support the body in traditionally supine positions on the apparatus and we are proud to have worked with the manufacturer of these wedges in their development to help ensure they meet the needs of our pregnant clients.

We work with clients on a private 1:1 basis in our well equipped apparatus studio. Here you get the opportunity to work on apparatus such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Arm Chair, and PediPul according to your body’s needs.

We can also cater for private group bookings if you wish to team up with friends; great for antenatal groups! We have 4 Reformers in our apparatus studio. Get in touch to discuss your provide booking needs.

To arrange 1:1 sessions, or discuss a private group booking please do get in touch with use directly.

Be:Poised Pilates founder Gina, has been supporting women through Pilates for Pregnancy and Postnatal since 2018. Building a strong reputation in the local area as Precision Poise, Gina stopped trading as Precision Poise in order to open her own studio, Be:Poised Pilates Ltd, in 2024. She continues to lead the pregnancy and postnatal specialist team at Be:Poised Pilates, supporting and nurturing our studio teachers and clients. Studio Teacher Lauren joined the Be:Poised Pilates team in 2025. She has proved a popular addition to our pregnancy and postnatal team, with her caring approach and encouraging nature. Together Gina and Lauren continue to develop ways we can best support our clients through these precious times in their lives; through tailored classes specially designed to meet the body’s needs, private 1:1 sessions, online client resources and our special collaboration with South Downs Doula Samantha Adams that has so far included taster talks and workshop development.
